It was the summer of 1985. Steve was only 30 when he was thrown out of Apple, so he had to go on with his life. A conversation with a young scientist sparked him with the idea of making computers specifically for education in colleges and other institutions. And that inspired him to make his new company, NeXT. Of course, he sacrificed a lot of time and money to have the design he wanted. He demanded from the manufacturers that the computer was a perfect cube, which skyrocketed the cost.

Despite of all that cost, the workstation turned out to be really prductive. The first server, which was the first machine involved in the World Wide Web, was made at CERN, and was a NeXT computer. The NeXT team later on made their own software called "NeXTSTEP", as well as a second generation of computers.

In 1997, Apple'sthen CEO announced their intentions of buying NeXT, as they were in need for their software. The two companies were merged, and NeXTSTEP was the base for MacOS 8 and later, as well as iOS and other software made by Apple.
