Pixar started off as a part of Lucas Film, then called "The Graphics Group". In 1986, Steve Jobs paid George Lucas 5 million dollars for rights, in order to basically "own" Pixar. Afterwards, he funded the company with 5 more billion dollars. 

The guys at Pixar worked hard, while collaborationg with Disney, and finally in 1996 the first computer animated film , "Toy Story", hits the cinemas. As expected, the movie sold really well, and became an iconic movie. It is said that it's animation can still compete movies with today's standards.

Pixar later on made some of the most recognisable animation movies, such as "Finding Nemo", "Cars", "Ratatouille", "Monsters Inc.", "Inside Out" and more.
